Mission Statement:

The mission of the Darlington County Environmental & Recycling Services Department is to provide quality collection services that provide disposal opportunities in a convenient and efficient manner for the residents of Darlington County, while at the same time reducing the amount of solid waste disposed through the reduction and reuse of waste stream.

Responsibilities:

To provide an everyday convenience for the citizens of Darlington County to recycle and dispose of household garbage as well as yard debris. We have thirteen (13) recycling centers located throughout Darlington County. Each of the recycling centers has containers for newspapers, plastic bottles, cardboard, household garbage. Etc. Currently, we do not accept tires at the recycling centers. Tires must be drop off at the landfill.

It's The Law!
  • All loads of trash or yard waste must be secured and covered by a tarp during transit to prevent litter. For more information, contact the Litter Control Coordinator at 843-398-4011.
  • To report illegal dumping, call 843-398-4011.
Used Motor Oil Collection

Used motor oil, oil filters, and empty motor oil bottles are frequently disposed of improperly. One gallon of used motor oil poured on the ground or in a sewer system can contaminate as much as 1 million gallons of water.. often the very water we drink.

To make proper disposal easy and convenient, containers for used motor oil, oil filters, and oil bottles can be found throughout Darlington County.

USED MOTOR OIL MUST BE RECYCLED IN SOUTH CAROLINA
