Lamar Dixie Youth Ball Fields
|
Located adjacent to the Governor's Run Golf Course, this complex has three lighted
youth size, two Tee Ball, and one intermediate fields. One bathroom facility and
one concession facility. Construction on 2 additional fields began in 2007
and will be ready for use in the spring of 2008. Also included in this grant

Spaulding Recreation Area
|
Located beside the Spaulding Elementary School, this leased facility has one lighted
ball field, a playground area, a picnic shelter with cooker, an outdoor basketball

Lamar Recreation Center
|
Renovated in 2003, this building includes storage space for athletic
equipment, new restrooms, and an activity room for both senior and youth events.
A 2003 PARD grant was used to fence in the parking lot and a picnic/playground area was

The Darlington County Recreation Department has one part-time employee who oversees
the operations of the youth football, the youth basketball, co-ed softball, and
the summer playground programs.

Sixth Street Ball Field
|
One lighted adult size ball field with restrooms and concession stand. Sixth Street,

Blue Street Complex
|
This leased facility, which is located on the Darlington High School property, has
four lighted youth baseball fields, two girl's softball fields, two concession stands and one regulation size football field. A 2004 PARD
grant was used to construct a new softball field for the Darlington Girls Softball

Site of the Darlington County Recreation operations. This building has a full size
indoor basketball court, dance room, an exercise room, offices, a kitchen, and activity

Jr. High Ball Field and gym
|
In cooperation with the Darlington County School District, the county recreation
personnel use one field and one gym for programs. A PARD grant was used in 2007

Bill Cain Tennis Center
|
This renovated facility has six tennis courts, a playground area, and a picnic area.

HARTSVILLE AREA |
Recreation Department
|
The headquarters for Recreation operations in the Hartsville Area temporarily been
moved to the old Jr. High facility on West
Carolina Ave. due to the closing of the
old armory building.

Northern League Complex
|
This facility has one football field with a concession/restroom building, a football
control center, and four baseball/softball fields with bathrooms and concession
stands. The city of Hartsvill entered into a lease agreement of this property with

Lee Street Ball Fields
|
This facility has three ball fields for adult and girls' softball. It has bathrooms

Byerly Park (City owned)
|
This multi-million dollar facility sports 6 regulation size soccer fields with a
field house complete with restrooms. Four softball/baseball fields were constructed
in 2005 as well as a state-of-the-art track facility. Two youth facilities were

SOCIETY HILL AREA |
Lake Darpo
|
This nature based park has a 17.5 acre lake for fishing and boating. It also has
a clubhouse for public rental complete with restrooms and a kitchen, as well as
two covered shelters. The park area has playground equipment, a bathhouse complete
with restrooms and showers, an Adirondack type camping shelter, an outdoor basketball
court, a tennis court, one full service RV site, one RV site with just water and
electricity, a Frisbee Golf course and an outdoor horseshoe facility. Horses welcome.
A PARD grant was used to renovate the basketball and tennis court in 2006. 100 Lake

RURAL AREAS |
Dovesville Recreation Area
|
This facility has one ball field. A 2002 PARD grant was used to construct a modified
outside basketball court. Also, an outside volleyball court was constructed on the
site. Future plans are for playground equipment and a picnic shelter. Mont Claire

Centerville Recreation Area
|
This facility has one lighted outdoor basketball court, one outdoor volleyball court,
playground equipment, two concession stands, and one lighted ball field. A 2002
PARD grant was used to renovate the basketball court, bathrooms and concession building,

Lydia Ball Field
|
This facility consists of one adult size ball field also used by youth teams in
the area. It is completely fenced in and has grandstands, bleachers and dugouts,
as well as concession building. A 2003 PARD grant was used to build new dugouts
and to replace dilapidated fencing. A PARD grant will be used in 2007/2008
to finish fencing, build additional grandstands and build a restroom facility. Indian
