Darlington County announces Interim County Administrator

Former Emergency Services Director, Charles Stewart has been chosen to hold the position of Darlington County Interim Administrator.

In a Special Meeting held by County Council on Tuesday, August 9, it was unanimously voted on and approved.

Stewart spent eleven years employed with the South Carolina EMS Pee Dee Regional Office and worked with the County for just over four years, a position he had to resign from in 2015 due to family medical issues.
Stewart has been  contracted to serve as Interim County Administrator effective August 10, 2016 through to July of 2017.

Stewart told the News and Press “All of my work experience involves administration and budget, starting when I was 22 with the EMS service in Lee County, which was a professional service that answered to a board”.  He went on to add that he is a "budget-specific individual..."

County Council Chairman Bobby Hudson is confident in the work Mr. Stewart can produce, expressing his confidence in Stewart, saying Stewart "did a fine job when he worked here with EMS. He helped with the budget…and he’s a good people-person".

The County welcomes Charles Stewart and looks forward to all the positive changes he may bring to the County.
