DARLINGTON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE
My name is James Hudson Jr. I am the Darlington County Sheriff. I made the decision to run for Sheriff based on the tremendous amount of encouragement received from my beloved Darlington County Community, members of law enforcement, and of course my family. I believe the people of Darlington County need an exceptional leader like myself to help restore dignity, respect, and integrity to the Sheriff’s Office.
I am a graduate of Hartsville High School and received my Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology from Coker College. My career in law enforcement expands over 25 years. Over a decade of those years, I have been in leadership roles to include Chief Deputy at the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office, as well as serving as the Chief of Police in the City of Hartsville.
As Sheriff, I have several goals:
- Partner with various city departments to reduce crime and drug activity;
- Work closely with our youth to promote positive choices;
- Utilize local venders to help keep our tax dollars within the county and end frivolous spending;
- Be transparent in our governing affairs by recommitting to an open-door policy;
- Provide support for those affected by domestic violence;
