The Procurement/Purchasing Department of Darlington County serves its citizens by procuring supplies, materials, equipment, and services in a timely manner and in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and County policies. This department implements policies to conserve monies through procurement and materials management, requisitioning, contract and lease negotiations, and accounts payable.
Goals and Responsibilities
The Procurement/Purchasing Department's main goals and responsibilities are as follows:
- Procures goods, services and equipment for all departments of Darlington County.
- Performs value and market analyses and develop new sources of supplies.
- Ensures that the County receives the best value obtainable for each tax dollar spent using the highest technological system available to the County.
- Monitors vendor performance to ensure reliability.
- Obtains best market prices through research and the competitive bidding process.
- Assists County departments in planning, scheduling and bidding purchases.
