Chief Deputy is second in command of the Sheriff's office. This position answers
directly to the Sheriff. Chief Deputy provides direct management and oversight to
the Darlington County Detention Center, Patrol Division Commander, Investigation
Division Commander, Warrant and Training Division Commander, Narcotics Division
Commander, and Administration Division Commander. He is directly responsible for
management and oversight of all fiscal components that involve the Sheriff's Office
budget and monies taken in via special operations such as narcotics forfeitures
and other monies seized as a result of criminal activity. In addition, he is responsible
for management of human resources matters which include the background checks of
applicants, internal investigations, and correspondence with the Human Resource

The Lieutenant assigned to this position is directly responsible for the operations
of the Administration Division. He reports directly to the Chief Deputy. The Administration
Division handles all the logistic matters for the Sheriff's Office. This includes
the procurement of all supplies and materials needed in the day to day operations
of the Sheriff's Office. In addition, this position is assigned the task of securing,
controlling and logging all evidence obtained by deputies in their daily duties.
Also, this Lieutenant provides oversight and is the liaison with all our technology
companies. He coordinates our agencies efforts with our software companies, SLED,
and computer support personnel. He provides direct supervision to all clerical staff
and is responsible for all records maintained by this agency.
